Last week we had two championship games - David for church basketball and Savannah in her indoor soccer. First came David's big games on Thursday night. His team won the 8:00 game to play in the stake championship game at 9:00. Poor guys - no break in between games.
Here's a shot of David going up for a rebound in the first game. Unfortunately, some guys from the other team had to ruin my great picture of David's rebound by jumping into the picture...the nerve of some people! (David's #6 black)
Here are the two teams, preparing for the big game.
And then, two minutes into the game, when David's team was up 2-0, the lights went out. One guy shouted, "We shot the lights out!" And they never came back on.
No one wanted to listen to my suggestion that the team who was winning at the time the lights went out should be the winner; instead, the men decided to reschedule the game for Saturday morning, bright and early. Because I wanted Savannah to have plenty of rest before her big game, we didn't get to see David play on Saturday. I hate missing his games but I hate even more that they ended up losing, especially since the other team is filled with notorious whiners. Oh, well, there's always next year.
On to Savannah's game, played Saturday morning at 10:00. Both teams were undefeated and their only tie of the season came against each other. We ended the first half with Savannah's team up 2-0 but it all fell apart in the second half with the other team scoring 5 goals to our 1. Final score: 5-3. I can make excuses that we were missing our top scorer or that the other team is filled with girls from an outdoor soccer team that have played together for several years but I'll just say that our girls gave it their best shot and played a tough game.
We have really enjoyed watching Savannah play this year. Her teammates have been great and her coach was FABULOUS!!
After the game we all headed to the Dairy Queen for some yummy treats and to celebrate a great year.
Just like Xander, Savannah received a medal for her participation.

What an exciting weekend! I am sorry they both lost but that is so awesome that Savannah's team had such a great season.
