Hunting for a Christmas Tree the Griswold Way

This year I am really feeling the Christmas spirit and have been looking forward to Saturday, December 1, as the day we would be getting our Christmas tree. We have always bought a real tree...no fake trees for me. I love the fresh pine smell that a real tree brings to our home. This year we decided to head out to a Christmas tree farm and cut down our own tree. Even though the weather was pretty cold, we all bundled up and went to the Hickory Hill Tree Farm which was about 20 minutes from our home. (We got a babysitter for Noah so we didn't have to worry about dragging him around in the cold.) They had several varieties of trees at the farm but unfortunately we were unable to find a tree that we liked. All of the Douglas Firs, which are my favorite, were too short. And the other kinds of trees were either too small or had big bald spots. So, we didn't come home with a tree which means we'll have to head out again next weekend. Oh, well...we had a fun afternoon together.

Xander saw this tree and shouted, "Mommy, an orange tree!" He was so excited to see an orange Christmas tree and didn't understand why we didn't choose that one to take home.

I can't even believe you are going to cut down your own tree. What tenacity, if that is even the right word. Probably not. Good for you for not settling as well. Can't wait to see the picture of the worthy tree once you get it!
